Summer's winding down to an end! Pretty soon the leaves will be falling and we'll all be bundling up in warm, comfy clothes. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and I cannot wait for the weather to cool down.

With the cool weather comes football season!!

I don't know about you, but our family loves to gather around the tv, watch the football game, eat some good food, drink fun beverages and play games during commercial time!

One of the games we love to play during the commercials is our version of I Spy.

Each family member can either write out their own list of things to look for, or they can collaborate with one another and make a list together. We usually include 20 items on each list.

Here is my nine year old daughter's list:

Don't you just love what they come up with?

Make a copy of each list for each family member and keep an eye out during commercials for items on the list! Shhhh... you don't want the other family members to know that you spy an item and the first one to reach 10 items on the list wins! Repeat with multiple lists, make teams or make your own rules! It's fun and helps pass that commercial time!

It's all about quality family time around our house and moments like these make forever memories!

When it comes to game day, I try to take it easy in the kitchen so that I can spend that extra time with the family.

I usually drive over to my local Sam's Club and pick up their Family Pizza Combo from the cafe!

For $13.98 you get a hot 16 Inch Pizza, Cheesy Breadsticks, Cookies and a 2 Liter of Coca-Cola!

The cheesy breadsticks are my absolute favorite!

This combo is enough to feed the whole family and is such a convenient timesaver. It takes just a few minutes to set everything out to eat once you get home. I also picked up some fun football napkins, tablecloth and bowls to make the day a little more festive!

Sam's Club does all the cooking for you, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the football game!

It's also great for birthday parties, sleepovers, movie night or even date night in! Really, any time you want to celebrate with an easy meal!

If you know me, you know I can't just completely step away from the kitchen! The night before I whipped up some homemade blackberry syrup to jazz up our Coca-Cola!

The syrup is quite simple to make, just cook the blackberries with some sugar and water, strain and refrigerate until cold.

When serving, combine the syrup and the Coca-Cola and wha-la, you have a fun and fabulous beverage the whole family will love!

The syrup is also great on top of pancakes or waffles, or even ice cream! So delicious! You can also give it a try with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or even peaches!

Get creative and let the kids choose what fruit they'd like to try!

Blackberry Coca-Cola

Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh blackberries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan.

Cook over medium high heat until mixture comes to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring often.

Remove from heat, cool for 10-15 minutes.

Place a fine mesh strainer into a bowl and pour half the mixture into the strainer. Press liquid through strainer with a spoon while mashing the berries.

Repeat with remaining berry mixture and discard seeds and pulp.

Refrigerate syrup in an airtight container until serving.

Fill a medium sized glass with ice, pour one tablespoon blackberry syrup over top and fill with Coca-Cola. Stir and serve immediately.
