Chicken is something we cook with alot at my house, and Gold'n Plump is the brand we use most often because I like to support local companies and the quality is always great. They also offer such great coupons through their website, email, and newspaper. I was so excited when I received an email from Gold'n Plump asking if I would like to try their new line of Chicken Brats, Sausages, and Breakfast Sausages. I jumped at the chance to try and review them!
All of the chicken sausage varieties we've tried have been fabulous! I especially loved the Parmesan Italian Sausage. The flavor was great. It would work good with any pasta recipe. You can leave the casing on, or remove it for more of a ground chicken texture. I normally like my ziti meatless, but this sausage was a great addition. We will definitely buy it in the future! What's also great about them, is they are nitrate, gluten free and lower in fat than pork sausage. The nutritional facts and some other recipes can be found here.
Baked Ziti with Parmesan Italian Sausage (print recipe)
What you need:
1- 16 ounce box of ziti, cooked according to package directions
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup onion, diced
1- 19 ounce package Gold'n Plump Parmesan Italian Sausage, sliced
1- 24 ounce jar or 3 cups marinara sauce
1- 14.5 ounce can petite diced tomatoes
1- 15 ounce container of ricotta cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
olive oil
salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large saute pan, cook garlic, onion, and sausage, in some olive oil, over medium to medium high heat until chicken is cooked through, breaking up the chunks of sausage slightly throughout cooking. Add sauce and diced tomatoes and remove from heat.
Put the pasta in a 9x13 glass baking dish. Mix in ricotta, 3/4 cup mozzarella, salt and pepper. Pour sauce over the top and sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top. Bake for 30-45 minutes or until cheese starts browning.
*I received the product above at no cost, but the opinion in this review is 100% my own*
