Seasoned Sour Cream is one of those simple recipes that somehow makes everything taste better. Made with sour cream, mayonnaise, and a blend of savory seasonings, it creates a creamy, flavorful dip that comes together in just a few minutes.
In our house, this dip is most often served with French fries, and honestly, it's our favorite way to eat them. It's also fantastic spooned onto burgers, served with crispy tater tots, or added to tacos for an extra layer of flavor. After chilling in the refrigerator for a bit, the seasonings have time to blend together, creating a simple condiment that works with just about everything.

Recipe tips and substitution ideas:
- For the best flavor, let the seasoned sour cream chill for at least an hour before serving. This gives the seasonings time to blend together. Be sure to whisk everything thoroughly so the spices are evenly distributed throughout the dip. Taste the dip after chilling and adjust the seasonings if needed. If you prefer a thinner consistency for drizzling on tacos or burgers, stir in a small splash of milk or buttermilk. For the freshest flavor, use fresh spices and refrigerate the dip in an airtight container until ready to serve. It will keep well in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- You can easily customize this seasoned sour cream to fit your tastes and what you have on hand. Greek yogurt or Mexican Crema can be used in place of some or all of the sour cream. If you don't have mayonnaise, you can use additional sour cream, Greek yogurt, ranch dressing, softened cream cheese, although the flavor will be slightly different.
- Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your liking. Smoked paprika adds a subtle smoky flavor, while a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce adds heat. Fresh herbs like chives, parsley, dill, or green onion make great additions, and soy sauce or balsamic vinegar can be substituted for Worcestershire sauce. You can also add ranch seasoning, onion flakes, lemon juice, or freshly grated Parmesan cheese for a different flavor.
