Taco Pizza is the perfect mashup of two comfort food favorites, pizza night and taco night all in one. This thick crust pizza starts with refrigerated pizza dough that bakes up soft and chewy with golden edges. Instead of traditional pizza sauce, the crust is topped with a creamy, tangy mixture of taco sauce and sour cream that gives every bite tons of flavor. It's such a great way to use up leftover taco meat, we always try to make extra and repurpose it into another meal.

Loaded with seasoned taco meat, red onion, black beans, and melty Mexican blend cheese, this pizza is hearty, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. A sprinkle of fresh cilantro on top adds a fresh finish that balances all the bold taco inspired flavors. It’s an easy weeknight dinner, game day favorite, or fun party food that always disappears fast.

Recipe tips and substitution ideas:

  • Prebaking the crust helps keep the center from getting soggy once the toppings are added. Be careful not to spread the dough too thin, this pizza is meant to have a thicker, soft crust. Drain and rinse the black beans well so they don’t add extra moisture, and use freshly shredded cheese for the best melt and flavor. If you like extra toppings, add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced black olives, or crushed tortilla chips after baking for even more taco inspired flavor.
  • This taco pizza is easy to customize based on what you have on hand. Ground turkey or shredded chicken can be used instead of taco beef, and pinto beans work well in place of black beans. Swap the Mexican blend cheese for cheddar, pepper jack, or Colby Jack, and use homemade pizza dough if you prefer. Greek yogurt or crema can replace the sour cream in the sauce, and if cilantro isn’t your thing, simply leave it off or top with sliced green onions instead. Try my Homemade Taco Seasoning to make your taco meat.

Taco Pizza

This easy Taco Pizza features a soft, thick crust topped with taco meat, black beans, red onion, and melty cheese. Perfect for weeknight dinners, parties, or game day.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 13.8 ounce can refrigerated pizza crust
  • 3 tablespoons taco sauce
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ½ pound cooked taco meat
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
  • ½ cup canned black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • Fresh cilantro, optional for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a large baking sheet.
  2. Unroll the pizza dough onto the prepared baking sheet and gently press the edges to even it out, keeping the crust fairly thick rather than flattening it too much. Bake for 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together the taco sauce and sour cream until smooth and well combined.
  4. Remove the crust from the oven and spread the sauce mixture evenly over the top, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Evenly top with the cooked taco meat, red onion, black beans, and shredded cheese.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
