Every time I make these carrots as a side dish, I can guarantee my daughter will have no problem completely devouring them.

They are her favorite, and I love them as well!

They go well with almost any meal, and there is just something about the brown sugar, honey and garlic combo that makes them so perfect and delicious.

Not only are they super tasty, but they are so easy to make too!

We love regular carrots at our house, but baby carrots would work with this recipe too and save some time in the kitchen since they are already peeled and ready to go.

These carrots are also a great addition to any holiday meal. We've served them for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter!

Easy recipes like this are a wonderful opportunity to get the kids in the kitchen. They can help measure, peel carrots and help cut them depending on how old they are. We love adding learning into simple household chores or in the kitchen.

What are the ingredients in this recipe?

  • Brown sugar: Often produced by adding sugarcane molasses to refined white sugar crystals. There are two varieties, light brown sugar and dark brown sugar. Dark brown sugar has more molasses, which results in a darker color, richer flavor and more moisture. Try making your own brown sugar here!
  • Extra virgin olive oil: This is a liquid fat obtained from pressing whole mediterranean olives. It's used for cooking, bread dips and making salad dressings. It has a lower smoke point than other oils, so you'll want to use it when cooking at a lower temperature.
  • Garlic: My love for garlic is real. I use it in almost everything I cook and I love the health benefits it offers. Garlic is part of the onion, leek and chive family. It's great for heart health and contains many vitamins and minerals.
  • Carrots: Packed with vitamin a and fiber, carrots are a favorite vegetable at our house. I only buy regular carrots because the flavor is SO much better than the pre cut baby carrots.
  • Butter: A dairy product consisting of approximately 80% butterfat and made from the fat and protein components of milk or cream. Most commonly made from cow's milk, but can also be made from sheep, goat, yak, or buffalo milk.
  • Honey: This thick, sweet liquid is made by bees and is a pantry staple in most households. It contains sugar, but it contains virtually no fat, fiber or protein. Honey has many health benefits and it's always great to buy honey that's local to you!
  • Salt and pepper
  • Fresh parsley

Recipe tips:

  • If you are substituting baby carrots, add a few minutes onto the cooking time to make sure they are tender. You can also cut them in half to make them smaller and faster to cook.
  • If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
  • You can change the sweetener you use. Trade out the brown sugar and/or honey for agave syrup, or maple syrup. You can also replace it with any sweetener that’s better for you personally.
  • Instead of parsley as a garnish you can sprinkle in some chopped thyme, rosemary, or other herbs. They add a fresh pop of color as well as an extra kick of flavor.
