Air fryer chicken always ends up amazing in my opinion. Once you start making it this way, you'll never want to stop.

The skin is always crispy, the inside is always juicy and it takes so much less time than baking in the oven. I always thought store bought rotisserie chicken was great, but this blows it out of the water in flavor and taste.

This chicken is great served with potatoes, salad or another kind of veggie. You can even serve it for the holidays if a turkey is too large for your family. Its kid approved and the leftovers are so easy to incorporate into other recipes.

You can switch up the spices and seasonings you use to make it different every time. I've even used flavored olive oils to add something a little extra. We love this garlic olive oil for almost everything.

This recipe is pretty much fool proof, and as long as you have a meat thermometer, it will be cooked to perfection every time you make it! If you want a delicious air fryer side to go with this chicken, give these Air Fryer Potato Wedges a try!

Recipe tips:

  • Different air fryer brands may heat differently. Keep checking the internal temperature of your chicken to ensure its cooked through before serving.
  • Wait 10-15 minutes to slice your chicken after removing it from the air fryer. You'll want it to stay nice and juicy.

Air Fryer Whole Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 pound whole chicken, pieces in the cavity removed
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F. Prepare the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Prep your chicken by patting dry with a paper towel.
  3. Mix dry seasonings together. Rub the entire chicken with olive oil. Sprinkle seasonings over the entire chicken, reserving about 1 teaspoon.
  4. Place the chicken on the air fryer basket with the breast side down. Cook for 30 minutes. Carefully flip the chicken and sprinkle with the reserved seasoning. Cook for another 15 to 30 minutes or until the dark meat reaches a temperature of 165 degrees F without the thermometer touching a bone.
  5. Remove the chicken from the air fryer basket and allow it to rest for 5 to 10 minutes prior to slicing and serving.

Notes

Refrigerate leftovers in an air tight container for up to three days.
