The American canned biscuit has been a staple in our home for dinner.
As someone who cooks, I've always been asked why I use canned biscuits rather than making them from scratch? To be honest, canned biscuits are more than just convenient. While it is true that having less dishes to wash after each meal is a huge bonus, there is a consistency in their outcome that cannot be denied. It is incredibly disheartening to spend all the time in the kitchen to make biscuits from scratch and have them come out like rocks or overly flaky and dry. It is so quick and easy to put a set number of biscuits in every time and know they will come out the same every time. Granted I don't forget about them and they burn.
Let's not forget their shelf life. Unopened canned biscuits have a shelf life longer than many of the ingredients for homemade biscuits.
From pot pies, to chicken and dumplings, even monkey bread. This one budget friendly ingredient has made these dinner ideas and side dishes so affordable and simple. But it will look like you spent all day preparing a family friendly meal.
