This fresh apple salsa is a sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy twist on classic salsa, perfect for fall! Crisp apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp add a juicy crunch, balanced by the subtle heat of jalapeño and the bright zing of lime. Red bell pepper and red onion give it beautiful color and a mild bite, while a touch of honey brings everything together with a hint of natural sweetness. It’s a refreshing combination that feels both vibrant and cozy, exactly what you want during harvest season.
This salsa is ideal for fall gatherings, apple picking parties, or as a way to use up your orchard haul. It pairs wonderfully with tortilla chips, grilled chicken or pork, salmon, or even spooned over tacos or roasted sweet potatoes. You can also serve it with cream cheese and crackers as an easy appetizer. Whether you're planning a game day snack board or a cozy weeknight dinner, this apple salsa brings fresh flavor and fall vibes to the table.

Recipe tips and substitution ideas:
- You can easily customize this salsa. Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples are ideal for their crisp texture, but Fuji, Pink Lady, or Gala work just as well, just avoid softer varieties like Red Delicious. If you're out of red bell pepper, swap in yellow or orange, or try finely chopped cucumber for a refreshing twist. Red onion adds sharpness, but you can use white onion or green onions for a milder flavor. Jalapeño brings just the right heat, but if you want it spicier, go for serrano peppers, or omit for a mild salsa.
- Cilantro adds brightness, but if it's not your thing, chopped parsley or even a mix of fresh basil and mint can work. Honey can be swapped with maple syrup, hot honey or agave nectar, and if you're out of lime, lemon juice or a splash of apple cider vinegar will give the salsa the tang it needs. For a fun fall twist, make a sweeter version by adding a little extra honey, a dash of cinnamon, and serving it with cinnamon sugar pita chips or graham crackers.
- Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days.
- Make sure to wear gloves, or use a plastic bag over your hand, to avoid getting the oils on your skin when handling the jalapeno. They can cause burning, especially if you touch your eyes later. If you accidentally touch your face or eyes after handling jalapeños, rinse with cold water and use dairy, like milk or yogurt, to help relieve the burn. You'll want to use a small spoon or paring knife to scrape out the seeds and white membranes, this is where most of the heat lives. Removing them will give you less heat.
